About Us

Hi! Thanks for checking out our site!  Do you love to travel?

For as long as I can remember, I have been happiest when planning a vacation.  When asked what my dream job would be, it has always involved exploring the world. How did Samantha Brown or Rick Steves land that gig anyways?

We are a family of four that has decided to make some major life changes. We put our “forever” home up for sale, quit our long-term corporate jobs and decided not to come back right away from a previously planned vacation to Europe. Our kids have never traveled internationally but have had passports since they were babies. Kevin and I are passionate about travel and have already visited 12 other countries together. We always dreamed of world travel as part of our retirement plan. As we get older we have come to recognize that not everyone makes it to retirement. Health can be fleeting. On top of that, our children are growing so quickly and we are missing so much of it due to work/life demands. We also know the best education we can give them is exposure to other cultures, art, language, and environments. It is time to use those passports. It is time to learn more about the world and experience adventure as a family unit.

We don’t have it all figured out yet. We are gambling our long-term financial stability and lifestyle for the opportunity to live our ‘future’ now. No risk, no reward, right? We decided to stop waiting and dreaming. Our “someday” starts now.

If you are like us and have a desire to travel (even if just for a week or two) then you are in the right place!  There is a common expression where it is said, “Live and Learn”.  We are here to share that knowledge with others.  We are prepared to make the inevitable mistakes so others don’t need to.  We hope to be a resource for people looking to learn more through travel.

Heather: Age 38.

Excited about: “Seeing the world through the eyes of my children. I can’t wait to see their eyes light up when they see an actual castle or a monument they have only seen in photos.”

Anxious about: “Homeschooling. Unless it is travel-related, I have no idea what I am doing and prefer to leave the school work to the experts. So much love for the internet right now!” Upcoming destination of choice: Italy! What’s not to love? Pizza, Pasta and Gelato? So many things to see and none of us have ever been there before. Did I mention the food?”

Kevin: Age 44.

Excited about: “Getting lost.” (which gives Heather one more thing to be anxious about) “Experiencing new food and, of course, beer.” Anxious about: “Being in close quarters 24/7 and how to navigate that. Lack of adult time and personal space.” Upcoming destination of choice: Ireland! I’m ready to give it another chance (my expectations were a bit too high a decade ago). It will be great to show our kids where their ancestors are from.

Keki: Age 10.

Excited about: “Getting to spend more time with my family.” Anxious about: “Getting lost” (Thanks Dad) Upcoming destination of choice: I want to kiss the Blarney Stone at the Blarney Castle!

Bam: Age 7.

Excited about: “Seeing more animals and creatures. The life of the earth.” Anxious about: “Bullies. But not in France because Paris is the Love City.” (cute, right?) Upcoming destination of choice: Climbing the Eiffel Tower and castles!
