Bites of Barcelona
We flew from London to Barcelona, Spain but when we got there we felt like we were going to die, it was so hot. We walked to the hotel, put our backpacks down, and then left to get cold cokes and tapas (a small plate of food). We went to three restaurants, I think the first one was the best, but the other ones were still good. My favorite part was the seafood (It was amazing).
The next morning, we went to Barcelona’s famous church called La Sagrada Familia. It is a large unfinished basilica designed by architect Antoni Gaudi. The church is supposed to be finished in 2026 (9 years) which would be 100 years after Gaudi’s death. We went to the top of the Nativity Tower to see the view of the city and then we walked down a spiral staircase. There were so many steps I couldn’t see the ground. It was the biggest church I’ve ever seen. While I was there I went to the prayer room and prayed for my family and friends at home.
Next, we went to Park Guell. It was also designed by Gaudi. We wandered through many paths and stopped to pop bubbles a man was making. We saw Gaudi’s house (which is now a museum) and rooms built into the rocks.
We then went to La Ramblas (a shopping district) and stopped to see the memorials laid out for the people killed by a terrorist attack the previous week. 13 people were killed and 100 injured, it was so sad to learn that a little boy my brother’s age died. There were flowers, candles, teddy bears and pictures on the sidewalk.
That evening we wandered around our neighborhood in search of more tapas. I got to try paella for the first time. I didn’t really like the rice, however, I liked the seafood in it.
Overall I would visit Barcelona again because I loved the food and I would eat all of it again.
Next Up: Disney Cruise!
